What do an advertising creative, a marching band drum major, a concert series founder, and a pop artist have in common?
Oh wait. They’re all Melissa Kay. ☺︎
She makes moody, piano-led pop music with a little country soul: songs about love, loss and the people who made us that’ll have you laughing and crying in the same breath.
Now booking an intimate fall run, October 26 – November 13, supporting the release of her new single “legacy” (out Oct 30) and accompanying music video (out Nov 7).
Traveling as a trio (keys, pedal steel + electric guitar, three-part harmonies) and happy to expand to full band where the room fits. Available for headline or support.

Artist Bio
Melissa Kay is an Oklahoma-born singer-songwriter who grew up between Norway, Venezuela, and Iowa, spent twelve years in Texas, and has called Los Angeles home since 2021.
Classically trained from age two, she played piano before she could talk, picked up flute at ten, and grew up in choirs, classical ensembles, and marching band (as drum major, no less).
In 2015 she founded Songs in the Sitting Room, an Austin concert series that at its peak drew 200+ people every month to hear local songwriters perform. She ran it for five years alongside a career in advertising and creative direction, putting other artists in the spotlight while quietly dreaming of stepping into it herself.
Her debut single "tell me," produced by Brett Kramer, (formerly of half•alive) and Rachel St. Marseille, started that chapter. Her new single "legacy" arrives October 30.
Her songs pair moody pop melodies with piano-ballad bones and a slight Texas twang, writing through love, loss, family, and grief. She believes songs were her first friends, and she hopes hers become yours.
